This Half Term's News:

We’ve had eight busy weeks in the school. Here are some of the things that have been happening:
Raising Money:
Our charity for the year is Motor Neurone Disease Association. So far, we have raised £220 for the charity.
Red, Green and White Day:
Our non uniform day raised £150 towards the Urdd in Caerphilly.
Readathon: £705. we have ordered over £1000 worth of books for the pupils with this money.
We have also bought 15 English dictionaries and 15 English thesauruses for every class in KS2 with money raised through Scholastic.
Trips:
The football team enjoyed a trip to Cardiff to take part in a competition. After they played, the pupils enjoyed the Wales V Bosnia game. Thanks to Mr Passmore for organizing.
Violin Lessons:
Miss Hughes’ class children have started having violin lessons every Friday by Gwent Music. Miss Fauknall’s class will also be receiving lessons.
Sport:
Year 6 Hockey:
Year 6 pupils receive hockey lessons from John Burrows every Friday.
Football: (Newport County)
Year 5 and 6 pupils are having football lessons every other Wednesday.
Clubs:
Clubs that exist at the moment:
Sewing. (Year 2) Urdd Club. (KS2) Choir (KS2) Chess Club (5 and 6) Rugby (5 and 6) Fitness Club (4, 5 and 6)
The School Council/Eco-Committee:
We have held elections for the school council and the eco committee. Members of the two have been meeting to discuss their plan for the year. Thanks to Miss Owen, Mrs Spanswick and Mr Bridson for their help.
Reading in KS2:
We now have seven volunteers helping our reading scheme in KS2. Thanks to everyone for giving their time.
Attendance:
Our attendance so far this year is 95.7%. We’re still aiming higher than 96% for the year.
Things to look forward to:
Year 5 and 6 trip to Llangrannog. (November 14-16)
LEGO workshop for year 6 pupils.
(November 6th)
KS2 trip to Caerleon Roman Fort.
(November 19th and 20th)
Starting back: The pupils will start back in school on Tuesday, November 4th.
